When I first saw this large curved wall leading down to the wine cellar of a Hillsbrough estate, just ached to paint it.

There are however, many problems of perspective when painting on a decending curve. These were overcome by putting myself into  the mind of a first time viewer, and noting the various points  to which the eye was naturally drawn during the decent of this sprial. These areas then became pionts of adjusted perspective so that everything works from both the top and bottom of the stairs.

The finished effect is one of space and balance,  and no one will ever notice the absence of a true vanishing point (especially when comming out of the wine cellar!)
