Every now and again, you are lucky enough to work with clients and designers who
are sure of their steps and have a sense of fun. When clients building a property in the Napa Valley returned from a trip to Giza, designer Nina Wirch saw an opportunity to pitch me a fun project for a guest powder room. I aimed at a vanishing point at the far wall, and melted it away in a series of chambers. The back wall was painted with two rock cut images of Ramesses and Nefertari from Abu Simbel, and a deep blue barrel vault ceiling was gilded with stars. Messages made with an on-line hieroglyphics translator were also included, to amuse the over-educated. |
