Tuckers Ice cream on Alameda Island have a gorgeous brick patio, where people can sit and enjoy their ice cream under the trees. The walkway leading to the patio however, felt dark and unloved, and was being used for adhoc storage.

We decided to bring some light and life into the space be creating the illusion of a low arched opening to a Mediterranean view, echoing and providing an overture to the outside patio.

Careful use of light and shade made the mural "pop" into 3d, and a trompe l'oiel sundae spoon was added to baffle kids, and cause Tuker's owner (and self confessed neat freak) Kate to double-take every time she walked past.
