In woodgraining ("graining"), understanding the color and formation during growth is an almost scientific discipline. Nature has to be understood and respected to make it utterly convincing.

 

These are painted on 2ft x 4ft panels of masonite but any surface that can be painted is capable of being grained (a steel  elevator door for example) and most exotic and domestic woods can faithfully be reproduced.

As the world becomes more conscious of the damage that we are doing to the planet, tropical woods are becoming extinct and woodgraining offers an artistic and sustainable alternative hacking down a forest.
